Target Love

It's no secret that Target is my happy place, where I go to escape in the midst of a hectic workday and since it's Target I'm being productive and getting things I need, a win win! ;-) Well since I've been bringing my new fur baby into work with me everyday for the last few weeks I haven't been making my usual weekly lunch trips, but I went yesterday because I was in dire need of a lot of essentials. I left George with some coworkers and off I went (George was not pleased with this arrangement, but for some of you who seem to have this crazy notion that I'm spoiling him let this be an example that he doesn't always get his way ;-)

Some of the essentials I picked up -

In small group a few weeks ago one of the girls was drinking a massive bottle of SmartWater and somehow we all started talking about drinking water. She was going on about how much she hates Atlanta tap water and most of the other girls chimed in agreeing with her. I got quiet and ducked my head and looked at my glass of tap water sitting on my coffee table then finally quietly admitted, "I drink tap water." To which they all pointed out that my glass looked cloudy. I've considered getting a Brita for years but for some reason always dismissed it that I didn't really need one, until now... I think 30 bucks is worth ensuring I'm drinking clean water. And I got the pretty green color. And I think George will appreciate the filtered water, too ;-)

Method cleaning products

My absolute fav cleaning products are Method. They are so fresh and nontoxic and not abrasive. I ran out of my cucumber scented surface cleaner and opted for clementine this time. Getting excited about cleaning products = I'm so mature and fun ;-)

A few healthy'ish snacks for those late afternoon cravings -
These are delish and just 70 calories a pack, a much better alternative to when I sometimes go to the cafe in my office complex and load up on self serve gummy candy which always results in a self loathing sugar coma.

I've yet to have anything Kashi I don't like, their dark mocha almond granola bars are pretty satisfying and a good go to when a chocolate craving hits. I also like the dark chocolate cherry kind.
I ran out of my Oscar Blandi dry shampoo (what I use on non hair wash days). Don't know when I'll make it over to Sephora and I'm not that crazy about it anyway so thought I'd try this more economical one by Garnier Frustis -

Also almost out of matte face powder. I apply it in the morning and afternoon to keep the shine away. I use Benefit and then for reapplication and touch ups I've opted for a cheaper brand, I like Sonia Kashuk sold only at Target, just $10 -

Love my Sonicare toothbrush, I highly recommend making the investment so worth it. I needed toothbrush head refills and was pleased to see that there were Target brand ones for a little bit cheaper -

Hey I'm trying to save where I can with all the new pet expenses and such. Sweet George is getting neutered today, I was so sad dropping him off this morning he was shaking like a leaf. I decided to pay to have it done at my vet as opposed to taking him back to the shelter and done for free there. I don't think my heart could have handled taking him back there, plus they will give him the extra meds and attention he needs at my vet.

Got a small rug for my kitchen for the steep price of $7.99, I've put George's food bowls on the one I already have and needed another one in front of my sink, plus George likes to get one piece of kibble in his mouth and run to the nearest rug to eat it, so this will save him a few steps, haha. Yes he gets kibble now not chicken and rice like a big boy.
Splurged on this little frame for $1 :) It's a pic of when I first met him, you know the day I raced over to the shelter in the middle of a volunteer shift at the Junior League Nearly New shop, haha. I know I admit I am cray but he is my one and only fur baby! Vet just called and said everything went well with his surgery :)

I'll spare you from the rest of my very exciting toiletry and product purchases. Target has so much cute new home stuff and I didn't buy any of it! I also didn't buy a new swimsuit for my beach trip to Tampa next weekend with Allison and Sheena or any spring clothes. I also perused the Easter candy aisle and walked away empty handed. So proud of myself I think I deserve another Target trip.

Weekend Pics

On Friday my good girlfriend Hannah here in Atlanta got engaged! So we all gathered for a celebratory dinner at Nava.

When I snapped this pic our friend Andy said, "You can't even see her because her ring is so big!" :)

I've said this before on here but one of the things I love about living in a big city like Atlanta are the endless restaurant and nightlife options. I'd never been to Nava before despite living a mile and a half down the road from it for the past three and a half years, haha. It's an upscale Mexican restaurant. Loved their sangria!

After dinner the group headed to Buckhead Saloon. A few of us girls were dancing out on the dance floor and this random guy came up and started dancing with us, I cannot even begin to describe some of his dance moves, if you want to even call them that (like I have any room to talk), it was hilare!

Hannah/Maltipoo, Me/Pom and Chrissy/Pony (refer to this post if you aren't in the loop on our animal counterparts)

Matt proudly posing with his fellow brown bear behind the bar, ya know because he's a baby bwown beayah.

Saturday morning I met Sheena and Allison at the Marietta Square Farmers' Market. With our lattes and hot tea in hand we got some great produce, Sheena some chicken pot pies for that night's dinner, fresh flowers and lots of other stuff!

Danger! Ashlison outside in the sunshine! My neck did get burnt :-( I was a bit of a mess that day, I forgot to get cash out, lost my cardigan and forgot where I parked. Thank goodness for sweet, patient friends. Allison didn't complain or act annoyed once with my aimless wondering with a giant plant and bags in hand. Found my car eventually, it was definitely in the opposite direction from where I thought it was, oopsie.

But despite the drama I just love going to the farmer's market, it's one of my happy places. Sheena and I were very excited about all the cavaliers there!

Cavalier kisses

Baby goats at a goat cheese stand, eeee!

And an impromptu golden party!

I got some fresh kale that I've been putting in my smoothies. It tastes way better than it looks. I put OJ, banana, apple and frozen strawberries with it. I want to get some ginger root, love ginger in the juices I get from Whole Foods.

And I got a passion fruit plant for my balcony! This is the first outside plant I've ever gotten. My parents gave me 2 big pots of marigolds one year for my birthday but I decided the upkeep would have been a tad ambitious, so we'll see how this one fares. The people I bought it from seemed confident it would do well in direct sunlight, I just need to get a different pot so I won't have to water it so much. Me and plants don't have the greatest track record...

This is what a passion flower looks like, I noticed one last night.

And their fruit! I would be ecstatic if I could grow fruit on my little balcony!

Okay now get excited for my upcoming blog posts:

~Tomorrow night my kick ball team is dressing up as trolls, I can't wait! My color is silver. I asked Chrissy/Pony if I could borrow her sequin Tory Reva flats, they would be great for playing kick ball in. Some of the girls are even making belly button pieces for us all to wear!

Warm Weather Essentials

Some spring/summer must haves I have bought and want to buy!

A new Burt's Bees chap stick while at Target yesterday -

Going to Kiawah Island for a long weekend a week from today! Got this classic floppy hat for just 10 bucks from, you guessed it F21 last week. I'll be wearing it under an umbrella while slathered in Neutrogena helioplex spf 100.
Also got this fun tribal necklace to throw on with tees and tanks

Whenever I get a family and friends coupon for Gap I try to make good use of it by picking up a few essentials, (you know cause I'm so sensible like that) I got these royal blue skinny jeans that are super soft -

And these cropped pants that I've already worn a few times

A few things I'm needing/wanting to get -

I first saw these on Pinterest, thought they were a cute take on the plain ones I wear everyday. Since my office is so casual I pretty much live in my Rainbows come summertime. Today I'm wearing them with jeans and a striped v-neck tee from Urban Outfitters. My condo is a mess with it being day 2 of the painters being there, so I have crammed all my stuff in my closet and anywhere I could find, so today is definitely a casual dress day. It doesn't take much for me to feel out of sorts!

I wore my black and silver Tory Thora sandals a ton last year so am really wanting to get a pair in the white/brown/gold color, too -

Also want a pair of classic wedges in light tan or cream like these Tory ones, but am thinking I can find some cute ones from DSW.

I think this is such a cute, effortless outfit (found on Pinterest, shocker). I have a few long dresses but just one long black knit skirt and I wear it all the time with basic white or grey tees and a colorful necklace. Not only is this outfit cute but most importantly it's super comfy and versatile.

So on my shopping list are classic, functional shoes that go with everything and some skinny jeans and long flowy skirts in fun, bright colors.

Miscellaneous Monday

Some products I've been loving:

For Christmas Tim and Shana gave me a Kiehl's gift set and in it was a trial size of ultimate strength hand salve. This is by far the most effective hand cream I've ever used. My hands are prone to getting super dry in the winter, esp when I'm washing them constantly due to cleaning up after a certain bichon. I just bought a regular size bottle of it with the gift card Chris gave me for Christmas, Kiehl's is my fav in case you didn't pick up on that ;-)
Just started using Aveda rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner, it's the kind they use when I get my hair cut at the Van Michael Salon in Buckhead. I like to frequently switch around what I use. Right now along with that I'm using Kiehl's Olive Fruit (their hair mask is the best ever) and plain ole Garnier Frustis.
Since I gave away my massive chair/parent's old living room chair to the Boob Trotter yard sale that was in my living room area I've been on the hunt for a smaller, super comfy chair/recliner to replace it. I think I'd actually sit in it a lot reading and drinking coffee.

I have really liked this chair at Ikea for awhile and it is so comfortable and on sale now, but thinking it's a tad too modern for my place. And random side note, I've started watching Say Yes to the Dress on TLC and a girl on there said her style was "southern chic" haha, everyone else was like that's not real she made that up blah blah, but I love it! Instead of shabby chic my style is now southern chic :-)

Chairs I've spotted on Pinterest that I love -

Not sure where this one is from but it's just what I'm looking for

And this chair from Target is super cute

After church last night I had a message from my parents and was pleasantly surprised to learn they were on their way to pick up Annie. (most of you know I've had her for the past month while they've been in Fla) I had originally thought they were going to get her today. Now we all know how much I love Annie but I think it's been established that old, set in their ways, sickly bichons do not do well out of their element, particularly in condo highrises in the city and left alone all day. So we're all happy to be back in our routines.

Even though I know she is going to miss having to use the bathroom in the communal dog plot area where she was barked at by a ferocious mini chiwawah and accompanying me to my building's gym -

Took these while running on the treadmill, hence the blurriness

I had to throw away an Ikea rug she ruined, bought this one from Target to replace it. Tonight I'm going to have a mopping party if anyone wants to come!

My mom gave me Tory Burch flip flops from the Tory Burch outlet in Fla - I'm starting to really want warm weather - Not the Atl humidity tho that can wait.

Last night Hayley and I went to church when all we wanted to do was watch the Oscars in our PJ's, so yay for us for being good. But of course I watched the coverage before and after and have been on People this morning -

This is hardly shocking but I thought best dressed was Angelina, she looked absolutely amazing -

I also thought some of the TV hosts looked fabulous, Maria Menounos -

Giuliana Rancic
